What subsidies are available for EV charger installation in 2025?

In parallel with the rapid development of electric mobility, more and more countries – including Hungary – are offering state or EU subsidies for the installation of EV chargers. The range of application opportunities is expected to expand further in 2025, especially for businesses and municipalities.

Direct support is less often available to individuals, but if a solar system is installed, there is an opportunity for preferential financing in combined applications - for example, within the framework of the Green Home Program - even together with an EV charger.

The situation is much more favorable for businesses and condominiums :

  • Applications from GINOP Plusz , KEHOP Plusz or other EU sources often include EV charging installation as an eligible activity.
  • These typically operate with a support intensity of 30–70%, depending on the application.
  • Eligible costs often include the price of the charger, design, electrical installation, and even the placement of information signs.

It is important to note that applications sell out quickly and technical documentation also requires detailed preparation. Therefore, it is advisable to get information now and seek expert help if you would like to implement the investment with support.

Tip: Don't just pay attention to classic EU tenders, but also to tenders from local governments, chambers of commerce or energy providers - they often offer regional subsidies for EV infrastructure.
